According to the Chinese Classics,
《渊海子平》说：“太岁乃年中之天子，故不可犯，犯之则凶。” it says Tai Shui is the Prince of the Year, Not to be offended.
《三命通会》说：“夫太岁者，乃一岁之主宰，诸神之领袖。” It also says Tai Shui is the Leader of the Year
又经云：“岁伤日干，有 祸必轻，日犯岁君，灾殃必重。”民间也素有“太岁当头坐，无喜恐有祸”的说法。所有的意思都只指一个结果，就是，逢冲，是非常不吉利的，必定百事不顺，事 业多困厄，身体多病的。就如同臣子冒犯君主一样，会有灾殃。
It simply says if clash with Tai Shui, it will bring misfortune.
